If you’re planning to visit St. Croix in June or wondering if it’s a good time of year for a trip, we’ve got you covered. Below, we’ll share what you can expect during summer in St. Croix, including the weather, best activities, and local events.
With warm, sunny weather and fun summer activities like kayaking and snorkeling, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, is well worth visiting in June.
St. Croix Weather in June
The average high temperature in St. Croix during June is 86°F, and the average low is 77°F. The average rainfall for June is 3.1 inches, and you’ll likely experience lots of sunshine.
Although June is the start of hurricane season, the rain usually doesn’t pick up until late summer. That said, rainstorms aren’t uncommon during summer, but they usually blow over relatively quickly.

Is June a good time to visit St. Croix?
June is one of the best times of year to visit St. Croix, especially for warm weather and fewer crowds. It’s the start of the low season, so there are typically fewer tourists than usual, and you’ll save on travel and accommodation costs. Many hotels and vacation rentals lower their prices during summer and fall when fewer guests are booking.
While the island is a bit quieter in summer than in winter, there are still many fun activities and events to enjoy. Keep in mind that some local businesses may close for a few weeks to take vacation during the low season.
What to Do in St. Croix in June
Whether you're a local, planning a St. Croix vacation, or stopping on a cruise, there are many unique things to do. There's something for everyone, including kayaking trips, hiking adventures, local events, and relaxing on the beach.
Kayak the Salt River Bay
Kayaking the Salt River Bay National Historic Park and Ecological Preserve is one of the best ways to enjoy June’s warm weather and beautiful scenery.
The bay is a preserved natural area with over 2,000 years of fascinating history. It's also home to only ten studied super glow biobays worldwide, meaning it glows all year.
Virgin Kayak Tours offers several guided tours, including the Bioluminescence Bay, Sunset & Moonlight, and Historical & Ecological. You can also explore own your own with kayak or standup paddleboard rentals.
The foot-pedaled kayaks are easy to use and offer a relaxing experience. It’s also nice to have the hands-free experience for taking pictures, sipping a beverage, or agitating the water to see the bioluminescence glow.

Go on a Hike
While it can get quite warm hiking in St. Croix in June, the stunning views can make it worth it. Many trails also lead to the beach, perfect for cooling off. We also recommend hiking in the morning before it gets too hot.
Jack and Isaac Bay Preserve Trail is an easy-to-moderate 3.6-mile hike with a beach that usually has little to no people, where you can stop to relax. You can also make this a shorter hike by stopping at the beach, then heading back.
Annaly Tide Pools is another fun summer hike. It’s a moderately challenging 4-mile hike that takes you to tide pools you can swim in.
40th Annual Women’s Race
Join the 40th Annual Women’s Race on June 1st, 2025, in Frederiksted. Women, men, and children are welcome to participate in the cause.
The Women’s Coalition is a non-profit that supports and empowers survivors of domestic violence. Each year, the annual peace race raises funds for advocacy, programs, and services for those in need. This is a great experience for getting active and supporting a good cause in June.
Take a Boat Trip to Buck Island
A boat trip to Buck Island is one of the most popular St. Croix excursions. Buck Island Reef National Monument protects a small, uninhabited island about a mile and a half north of St. Croix and is only accessible by boat.
Big Beards Adventure Tours offers half-day or full-day guided catamaran tours. You’ll head to Buck Island from the Christiansted boardwalk and spend a few hours or the day cruising, snorkeling, and hanging out on the beach.
Spend Time at the Beach
St. Croix is surrounded by some of the best beaches in the Caribbean – ideal for relaxing and doing water sports.
Some of our favorite beaches include:
Cay Beach - Take a short boat ride from the Christiansted boardwalk to Hotel on the Cay, which has a beach bar and live music on the weekends. They also have chair and umbrella rentals.
Mermaid Beach - Relax at The Buccaneer Hotel’s beautiful public beach on the island’s east side, where you can rent chairs and umbrellas. There’s also a restaurant, so you can order food and drinks to enjoy on the beach.
Cane Bay - Hang out, snorkel, and dive at one of St. Croix’s most lively beaches on the north shore. It’s also across the street from a Cane Bay Dive Shop and The Landing, a popular beach bar and restaurant.
Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge - Enjoy some of the best beach scenery on St. Croix at Sandy Point – only open late spring and summer on Saturdays and Sundays.
Dorsch - Snorkel, relax, and hunt for sea glass with locals at this beach in Frederiksted.
Rainbow Beach - Rent jet skis, umbrellas, and chairs at one of the most lively beaches in Frederiksted. There’s also a restaurant and bar right on the beach.

Celebrate freedom, love, and pride at the Juneteenth Pride Party on June 19th at Levels in Downtown Christiansted.
Levels is a popular spot for music, entertainment, and creative culture. The Juneteenth Pride Party’s sounds are by DJ Honey, MC D Nyce, and host Diva.
Go on a Guided Fishing Trip
Go fishing this June in St. Croix with Silver Kings Fishing. The trip will include everything you need for a fun and successful fishing adventure, including rods, reels, lures, flies, and baits.

Take a Sunset Sail
One of the best things to do at night on St. Croix is a sunset sail with Lyric Sails. Jolly Mon, a 63-foot catamaran, departs from the Frederiksted Pier just before sunset for an evening of picture-perfect views.
